Ms. Miller,
I’m also looking forward to following the upcoming series. As I’m in the earliest stages of starting a fund, I think it would be worthwhile to set things up properly, from the start, rather than “going back, afterward”.
Btw, you may not recall, but you’re following on me on SA, under the nom de plum “Old Trager”.

Besides the topic being very timely, I do appreciate the fact the articles will be written as a guide and not a check-list process that only pertains to bulge-bracket firms. Depending on where allocations originate, adhere to operational risk can be the deciding factor for receiving funds vs. being passed over. But no matter the size or maturity of the fund’s operation, attention to operational risk should be a daily and mandatory practice. I look forward to seeing the series.

Thank you, Damian. We actually teach a class titled “How to Survive a Hedge Fund Operational Due Diligence” and class participants always wonder why we cover investment strategy. We have to explain that knowledge of the strategy, approach and decision-making process is a pre-requisite to know what to look for in a due diligence–precise because there cannot be a checklist.
We hope you enjoy the series.
